My name is Patrick Winters. I have been a recipient of services from Volunteers of America Southeast for 17 years. The program provides housing and services for me so that I can live independently. I try to be a helpful neighbor, tenant and friend to everyone. I am grateful for the services of Volunteers of America in giving me an independent life.
Equally important, VOA Southeast staff provide friendship and support for me. I don’t know what I would do without them. Every day, I check in with them and make sure they’re okay and see if they need anything. I’m always willing to do anything they need. I also like to provide advice to them and let them know each day what I am going to do. I plan out a schedule each day and then stick to it. I make sure the staff knows my plans.
I am always willing to help in any capacity. I owe everything to the staff at VOA Southeast. They’re my family and my friends. One of the staff members recently said, “It’s tenants like Patrick, that makes serving others a treasure.”
